Location: Hannover, Leibniz Association

Employment Type: Permanent Position Workload: Part-time / Full-time Qualification Level: University Education

Summary

TIB, part of the Leibniz Research Association, is a leading technical information center in Germany with around 600 employees.

Your Responsibilities

As a Research Software Engineer for digital research infrastructure, you will be instrumental in the implementation and ongoing development of SciOp at TIB. Your role involves developing, implementing, and testing new SciOp features according to a roadmap agreed upon with the SHIELD project team and partners (SRC and DRP). You will ensure the security and sustainability of SciOp, both for internal TIB operations and for third-party use. This position offers a high degree of personal responsibility, allowing you to apply your software development and maintenance skills while collaborating with the digital archiving community.

Key Tasks:

  • Roadmap planning, maintenance, and active development of the Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) project SciOp, in close coordination with internal and external partners.
  • Developing an interface between the SciOp platform and TIB's digital long-term archive (Rosetta).
  • Prioritizing security and sustainability in SciOp's operation at TIB and for third-party users.
  • Contributing to the development of a sustainable, decentralized, and openly networked infrastructure for the long-term security and resilience of endangered scientific and technological research datasets.

TIB provides forward-looking services that meet the infrastructural requirements for providing researchers in science and industry with high-quality information and literature. TIB also conducts cutting-edge research to expand its role as a German information center for the digitization of science and technology, and offers library services for the Leibniz University Hannover.

TIB is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing ideal working conditions and supporting employees in balancing career and family life. We particularly encourage qualified women to apply to promote equal career opportunities. Severely disabled candidates and those with equivalent status will receive preferential consideration if equally suitable. Applicants wishing to have their rights as severely disabled persons considered in the selection process are asked to voluntarily indicate this in their application and provide relevant documentation. TIB welcomes applications regardless of nationality, ethnic and social origin, gender identity, gender expression and/or gender characteristics, religion and worldview, age, sexual orientation, and identity.

Please indicate the job exchange where you saw this offer in the subject line of your application. Application documents will not be returned, and application and travel costs cannot be reimbursed.

  • Excellent written and spoken English skills.

Desirable Skills:
