Freelance IAM Consultant

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Freelance IAM Consultant to join a leading management and technology consultancy on a freelance basis. You will work as part of a consulting team on client engagements across the Banking, Financial Services, and Manufacturing sectors, contributing to the delivery of identity and access management solutions that support our clients' security, compliance, and digital transformation objectives.
This is a client-facing role suited to a confident, self-directed consultant who is comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders and operating across complex enterprise environments. Candidates with Big 4 consulting experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Support senior IAM consultants and project leads on client engagements, contributing technical and advisory expertise across identity and access management workstreams
- Design and implement identity lifecycle management processes including Joiner, Mover, and Leaver workflows
- Configure and deploy IAM tooling including Omada Identity and similar platforms
- Integrate IAM solutions with directory services (Active Directory, Azure AD / Entra ID) and enterprise applications
- Support clients in meeting regulatory and compliance requirements including NIS2, DORA, and GDPR -- particularly relevant in financial services environments
- Conduct workshops, requirements gathering sessions, and senior stakeholder presentations
- Produce high-quality technical documentation, solution designs, and process models
- Collaborate within cross-functional project teams across multiple client environments
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as an IAM Consultant within a consultancy or professional services environment
- Hands-on expertise with one or more IAM platforms (Omada Identity, SailPoint, CyberArk, or similar)
- Strong understanding of IAM principles -- identity governance, RBAC, SoD, access certification
- Experience with directory services and cloud identity platforms (Active Directory, Azure AD / Entra ID)
- Solid knowledge of relevant compliance frameworks, particularly NIS2, DORA, ISO 27001, and GDPR
- Excellent client-facing communication and stakeholder management skills -- comfortable at C-suite level
- Business-fluent German and English -- written and spoken (essential)
- Ability to operate independently and manage deliverables in a remote, project-based environment
- Experience working within Banking, Financial Services, or Manufacturing environments
Nice to Have
- Previous experience working within a Big 4 or top-tier management consultancy
- Familiarity with SAP GRC or SAP Identity Authentication Services (SAP IAS)
- Relevant certifications (e.g. Omada Certified, CISSP, CISM, or equivalent)
Candidates should be registered as a Freiberufler or GmbH in Germany.
