The Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science e. V. (MPG) is a self-governing organization for science funded by the federal and state governments. Join the Institute Finance department. We ensure the financial resources of our research institutes and support them in all matters of their institutional financing.

The General Administration of the MPG is looking for a Controller for Institutional Financing (m/f/d) for its Financial Controlling department, to start as soon as possible, for 39 hours per week.

Your Responsibilities

  • Leading coordination, consultation, and support of institutional financing for a subset of Max Planck Institutes (MPIs) within the "Institutional Finance" team.
  • Management and content-related preparation of financial decisions at the management level.
  • Creation and updating of medium-term financial planning and proposals for institutional financing, including changes and, if applicable, conflict resolution.
  • Financial controlling during implementation up to the annual financial statements, particularly monitoring fund outflow in compliance with internal guidelines and deriving analysis and control proposals.
  • Creation of individual institutional analyses based on ad-hoc requirements.

What You Bring

  • Successfully completed studies in business administration or public administration (Diploma, Bachelor) or a comparable qualification.
  • Relevant knowledge of budget law, especially in connection with applicable commercial law.
  • Independence, assertiveness, and a confident demeanor with internal and external partners.
  • Experience with AI applications or the willingness to familiarize yourself with relevant systems.
  • Good SAP R/3 knowledge in SAP applications (SAP-FI, SAP-BW/-BI) is desirable.
  • High team spirit on the one hand and conflict resolution competence on the other, as well as resilience, even during intensive work phases, combined with a high degree of self-motivation.
  • Very good analytical and conceptual skills with appropriate tools, combined with a service-oriented approach.
  • Very good German language skills and English language skills (A2 level) in speaking and writing.
