Area Sales Manager - Germany (Bavaria/East Baden-Württemberg)

Company: Global Market Leading Manufacturer of Mechanical Components -- Rotating Equipment

Role: Technical Sales Engineer

Location: Germany - Bavaria / East Baden-Württemberg (Home Based)

Salary: €80,000 - €100,000 Basic (negotiable), On Target Earnings €120,000+

About the Company: A world-leading manufacturer of rotating equipment and mechanical components with a global presence and multi-million turnover. They specialize in enhancing pump efficiency and reliability, reducing downtime and costs across various industrial sectors including pulp and paper, chemical, oil & gas, food & beverage, mining, process, defence, power, and pharmaceutical. They are renowned for innovation, reliability, and service in precision engineering.

The Role: Reporting to the German Sales Manager, you will manage business activities within your designated region. This role involves:

  • 60% strategic key account management of existing clients.
  • 40% new business development.
  • Selling technical solutions involving mechanical components, rotating equipment, pumps, valves, seals, and gaskets.
  • Working with a diverse client base across industrial, process, and manufacturing environments.
  • This is a home-based role requiring regular customer visits (approx. 4 days per week on customer sites, 1 day from home office).
  • You will be supported by internal sales engineers for technical backup.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop customer relationships within your region.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Achieve sales targets and contribute to regional growth.
  • Report sales and quotation activity monthly.

The Candidate:

  • Experience: External sales experience in mechanical seals, rotating equipment, pumps, valves, or motors is essential.
  • Background: Mechanical Engineering background (apprenticeship or degree) is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of rotating equipment and mechanical seals.
    • Strategic thinking with excellent relationship development, key account management, and new business development skills.
    • Excellent communication skills, able to sell at various levels.
    • Proven track record in business-to-business sales.
    • Dynamic "can do" attitude and enthusiasm for sales.
  • Languages: Fluent German and good English are required.
  • Additional: An eye for upselling/cross-selling opportunities.
  • Location: Must be able to live within the East Baden-Württemberg region (e.g., Mannheim, Stuttgart, Tubingen, Freiburg im Breisgau, Ravensburg, Ulm, Karlsruhe, Heilbronn).
