Position: Java Developer (EJB/JEE)

Location: Düsseldorf or Paderborn, Germany

Type: Full-time/100% Remote

Minimum Requirements:

The candidate must meet the following mandatory criteria:

• Education: University degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Java Enterprise Edition (JEE/Jakarta EE 8) Development: Foundational knowledge in server-side JEE application programming with practical project experience in EJB 3.x, JAX-WS, and JPA.
• Application Server: Foundational knowledge with JBoss EAP 8.0 or higher (Wildfly 28+ is considered equivalent).
• Database Technologies: Foundational knowledge and practical experience with Oracle Database.
• SQL/JPQL: At least 3 years of experience with medium-complexity SQL and JPQL statements.
• Web Services: Foundational knowledge in developing SOAP-based and REST-based web services using Java.
• Data Structures: Practical experience with XML data structures.
• Object-Oriented Programming: Knowledge of object-oriented modeling and programming methods.
• Development Tools - IDE: Minimum 4 years of practical experience with Eclipse IDE.
• Build Tools: Practical experience with Gradle.
• Version Control: Practical experience with Git.
• Teamwork: Demonstrated experience in team environments with a minimum of 5 team members.
• Language Skills: German C1 level or higher (CEFR) in both written and spoken communication.

Full Score Criteria:

• Proven experience in large-scale projects (>1,000 Person-Days).
• Expert-level knowledge in Transaction Management (JTA/JTS) and advanced mastery of core JEE Design Patterns (Session Facade, Service Locator, DAO, Command, Event-Driven Architecture) demonstrated in production EJB/Jakarta EE environments.
• Documented experience in successfully migrating or integrating legacy EJB applications into modern microservices architectures.
