Position Overview

We are expanding our expert network and are actively seeking senior Government Relations Advisors with deep expertise in US-EU economic and foreign policy relations combined with a strong, active, high-level network inside core US governmental institutions and/or EU institutions involved in transatlantic economic and diplomatic affairs. This is a flexible, project-based, remote role designed for former senior officials or long-standing advisors who maintain direct access at decision-making levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic counsel on US-EU economic policy coordination, trade negotiations, industrial strategy alignment, international sanctions, supply chain resilience, and transatlantic foreign economic relations.
  • Leverage direct relationships within key US and EU economic and diplomatic bodies to deliver intelligence and advocacy support for clients.
  • Conduct rapid, high-level analysis of legislative, regulatory, and policy developments affecting transatlantic business, investment, trade, and international relations.
  • Support clients on US-EU economic-security nexus, G7/G20 coordination, bilateral economic diplomacy, and major transatlantic initiatives (e.g., TTC, Global Arrangement on Sustainable Steel and Aluminum).
  • Collaborate with Oasis Insight's global experts on cross-border economic and geopolitical projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of senior-level experience in government relations, public affairs, economic diplomacy, or policy consulting with a clear focus on US-EU economic and foreign-policy ecosystem.
  • Proven track record of working directly within or as a trusted advisor to core US and/or EU institutions responsible for transatlantic economic and diplomatic affairs, such as:
    • United States side: Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), Department of State (Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs), Department of the Treasury (international affairs offices), Department of Commerce (International Trade Administration), National Security Council (economic/international economics directorates), etc.
    • EU side: European Commission Directorate-General for Trade (DG TRADE), Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN), European External Action Service (EEAS -- economic diplomacy units), Cabinet of the Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security, etc.
  • Extensive, active, and verifiable network at director general, deputy director general, assistant secretary, under secretary, senior director, or ministerial-cabinet level within the above institutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of US trade & economic legislative process, EU--US trade and economic negotiations, transatlantic trade policy coordination, export-control mechanisms, sanctions implementation, and investment screening (CFIUS / EU FDI screening).
  • Outstanding analytical and communication skills in English (full professional proficiency required); proficiency in additional languages (e.g., French, German) a plus.
  • Ability to deliver concise, decision-ready insights under tight deadlines in a fully remote environment.
