Software Engineer -- Java & Spring (m/f/d)

Location: Magdeburg / Hybrid Type: Full-time | Permanent

The Role:

We're looking for a Software Engineer with a strong interest in frontend development and a solid Java/Spring background to help build and evolve a modern software platform. You'll work on user-facing features that matter, while being closely connected to the backend architecture that powers them.

This is a great opportunity if you enjoy creating clean, intuitive interfaces, care about performance and maintainability, and want to work in a collaborative team outside the usual Berlin tech bubble.

What You'll Work On:

• Building modern frontend features that are intuitive, performant, and scalable • Working closely with backend services built in Java and Spring Boot • Designing and consuming REST APIs to support user-facing functionality • Improving UX, responsiveness, and overall frontend architecture • Contributing to system design discussions and technical decisions • Writing clean, maintainable code and taking part in code reviews • Supporting the ongoing modernisation of existing applications

Tech Stack:

• Java, Spring Boot on the backend • Modern frontend frameworks (e.g. Angular or React) • REST APIs and JSON-based communication • Relational databases and backend integrations • CI/CD pipelines and modern development tooling • Containerised environments and cloud-ready deployments

What We're Looking For:

• Experience with Java and Spring Boot in production environments • Strong interest in frontend development and building user-focused features • Experience with a modern frontend framework (Angular, React, or similar) • Solid understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript) • A product-oriented mindset and attention to detail • Comfortable collaborating across frontend and backend teams • Fluent English; German is a plus
