As a product-led company, we prioritize our platform's development. This role is highly strategic, offering a significant opportunity to leverage your skills and ideas to drive our mission forward.
Your Role as a Product Manager
You will join a large Product organization (100+ people) supported by a substantial engineering team (300+ people). Your responsibilities will include:
- User Discovery: Dedicate significant time to understanding user needs and pain points through interviews, user research, and data analysis.
- Strategy & Roadmap: Define OKRs and roadmaps based on user insights and company objectives to effectively solve user problems and achieve business goals.
- Collaboration: Work closely with a dedicated Product Designer and a team of Product-centered engineers. Embrace an MVP approach, focusing on implementation, iteration, and achieving common goals over simply building features.
Your Journey at Pennylane
Within one month:
- Complete onboarding, learning about the company, teams, and vision.
- Gain familiarity with the product and the accounting industry through documentation and training.
- Develop a deep understanding of the Product organization's methods and culture.
Within three months:
- Implement your first solutions in collaboration with Product Designers and Engineers.
- Positively impact at least one OKR.
- Establish your continuous discovery routine and prepare your roadmap.
Within six months:
- Achieve autonomy in defining OKRs and roadmaps.
- Continue to make a strong impact through solution iterations.
- Share learnings and best practices with the team.
Beyond six months:
- As the product team doubles in size over two years, you will have opportunities to recruit and mentor new PMs.
- Take on increased responsibilities in project leadership.
- Contribute to implementing new processes, tools, and best practices for team efficiency.

Recruitment Process
- Initial Chat: 45-minute conversation with a Talent Acquisition Manager.
- Product Team Discussion: 45-minute discussion with a Product team member to assess fit and culture.
- Case Study: 1 hour 15 minutes live case study with two PMs.
- Final Round: 60-minute meeting with the CPO and a Group PM or Head of Product.
We aim for a swift process, typically lasting 15 to 25 days.
Who We're Looking For
- Languages: Full fluency in German (🇩🇪) is required.
- German Accounting Knowledge: A significant advantage.
- User Research & Product Sense: Proven ability to understand user needs and problems from various sources.
- Communication Skills: Strong, structured communication to influence, lead squads, build relationships, and engage with users.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to navigate and simplify complex problems.
- Hands-on Approach: Willingness to go beyond the traditional product role to ensure product success.
- Experience: Previous Product Management experience in a scale-up or large tech company, ideally with a strong product culture.
- Accounting Experience: Not strictly required, but curiosity about accounting and comfort with complexity are essential.
