Go Backend Software Engineer II (Remote)

About the Role

Percona is seeking a full-time, remote Backend Software Engineer to join its Open Source Software Development team. You will contribute to the development of Percona Monitoring and Management (PMM), a free and open-source platform for monitoring and managing the performance of SQL/NoSQL databases and cloud instances. Your focus will be on backend development using GO, implementing key features and APIs, and leveraging cloud and container technologies with the latest tools and techniques.

What You Will Do

• Develop scalable, high-volume, performant applications focused on simplicity and user delight
• Produce high-quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed, and continuously integrated
• Collaborate with designers, architects, and product managers on new functionalities
• Participate in code and design reviews, fostering a learning environment
• Uphold and identify engineering best practices
• Identify and advocate for improvements in engineering productivity

Your Experience

• 3+ years of backend development experience (GO, Python/Java/C#/C++/C, etc.) with strong programming fundamentals
• Advocate for test-driven development and test automation
• Experience with MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Redis/Valkey
• Proficiency in Linux (basic usage for programming)
• Fluent written and verbal English communication skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a remote setting
• Development experience on cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, or OpenShift)
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git)
• Experience designing, building, and documenting APIs
• Knowledge of asynchronous programming
• Experience with Agile development methodologies

What Will Make You Stand Out

• Experience with Golang
• Knowledge of additional databases/data stores (Memcached, ClickHouse)
• In-depth understanding of security and encryption for data transmission and storage
• Experience with continuous deployment to cloud/virtualized environments (DevOps)
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with Prometheus or VictoriaMetrics
• BS/MS/PhD in an engineering field or equivalent experience
• Experience writing and maintaining unit tests
• Open-source development experience
