About Shopware\n\nShopware is a leading e-commerce system that enables companies worldwide to scale quickly and efficiently. As a future-oriented open-source solution, Shopware is already used by some of the largest European brands, retailers, and manufacturers in B2C and B2B.\n\n## Your Role\n\nThe position is in IT Operations within the IT Infrastructure team, which is responsible for the internal IT infrastructure of shopware AG. As a Senior Infrastructure Architect -- Cloud & Network (m/f/d), you will be responsible for the vision and architecture of Shopware's internal infrastructure. You will plan and manage the cloud migration of remaining on-premise environments, define the network and security architecture, and shape standards, governance, and budgeting. With creative freedom for conception, implementation, and iteration, you will help build a future-proof internal platform -- from the foundation to operation.\n\nThis position can be filled on-site, hybrid, or fully remote within Germany. Your place of work will be agreed upon in advance and will form the basis of your employment contract.\n\n### Responsibilities\n\n* You will take end-to-end responsibility for our infrastructure vision and roadmap, including how components interact today and how they should evolve.\n* By migrating on-premise environments to the cloud (AWS), you will modernize our internal infrastructure and reduce risks for internal services. You will define patterns and guardrails that others can reuse.\n* You will design and further develop our network infrastructure (e.g., Cisco Meraki, SonicWall firewalls, VPN/Tailscale) and ensure segmentation, resilience, and operational capability.\n* You will review and increase the standard for monitoring, backup/restore, and observability (e.g., PRTG, Datadog, AWS CloudWatch) to guarantee reliability and recoverability.\n* Together with our IT Security Specialist and Information Security Officer, you will translate security requirements into practical controls -- from firewall policies to identity & access (Azure AD/ID, local AD).\n* You will plan and manage the infrastructure budget, optimize cloud costs, and make informed make-or-buy decisions.\n* Hands-on remains part of the role: You will support migrations, work closely with cloud engineers, and assist in resolving complex incidents where architectural context is crucial.\n* You will lead projects and, if necessary, provide technical leadership to small project teams to deliver milestones on time and with quality.\n* You will work closely with internal stakeholders (Team Lead IT Administration, entire IT Infrastructure team) as well as cross-functional partners within Shopware (e.g., Information Security Officer, Product), coordinate plans, and safely sequence changes.\n\n### Your Profile\n\n* You have 5-10 years of total experience, including 2-3 years in a comparable architecture/leadership role across cloud and on-premise infrastructures.\n* Your broad technical expertise allows you to think about network, identity, compute, storage, backup/DR, and security together and make pragmatic, scalable decisions.\n* Cloud competence, especially AWS, as well as vCenter, Azure AD/ID, and local AD, enables you to confidently manage migrations and hybrid setups.\n* You are proficient in IaC, enterprise networking, VPN, and monitoring stacks; we use Terraform, SonicWall, Cisco Meraki, Tailscale, and PRTG/Datadog/CloudWatch -- experience with comparable tools is also valuable.\n* Strong planning and stakeholder management skills help you coordinate roadmaps, anticipate bottlenecks early, and ensure commitment and timely execution.\n* Security is an integral part of your work: You translate policies into enforceable, auditable controls across the entire stack.\n* Communication is one of your strengths: You clearly explain complex trade-offs, adapt your messages from executive briefings to technical specifications, and align teams behind a plan.\n* Very good English (spoken and written) is required; German is a big advantage, but not a prerequisite.\n* Willingness to travel for regular appointments on our campus in Schöppingen completes your profile.\n\n### What We Offer\n\n* Company Culture: Open culture, flat hierarchies, initiative is encouraged.\n* Employment Contracts: Permanent positions offer long-term security.\n* Flexibility: Flexible working hours and options for mobile working and full-remote contracts.\n* Equipment: Free choice of work hardware.\n* Onboarding: Well-structured onboarding with support from a personal "Buddy".\n* Work Environment: Inspiring environment with dedicated colleagues and a dynamic community.\n* Development Opportunities: Diverse opportunities for personal growth and development.\n* Additional Benefits: Attractive benefits such as company pension, health programs, and regular team events.\n\n...and much more!\n\nYou can get a detailed insight on our career page.\n\nYour contact person for this position is Josephine Scheffler, who will be happy to assist you with any questions!\n\nThe protection of your personal data is our top priority.
