Document Controller (BESS Project) -- Freelance Contract

Location: Remote (Germany) with potential travel to sites in Germany

Contract Type: Freelance / Contract

Duration: 12 months (high likelihood of extension)

Start Date: ASAP

Hours: 20 hours per week for the first 2 months, increasing to 40 hours per week thereafter

About the Role

Spencer Ogden is recruiting on behalf of a leading OEM for an experienced Document Controller to support a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project. This is an excellent opportunity to join a major renewable energy project in a remote-first role with the flexibility to work from home and occasional travel to the project site as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain document version control, ensuring all project documentation is accurate, up to date, and accessible.
  • Track document revisions and communicate updates to relevant project stakeholders.
  • Ensure documentation complies with project standards, quality requirements, and internal procedures.
  • Coordinate the timely and secure distribution of project documentation across internal and external teams.
  • Support employees and stakeholders with document control processes and best practices.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for document management queries.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Document Controller, ideally within renewable energy, engineering, construction, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of document control procedures and document management systems.
  • Excellent organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with project teams.
  • Fluent in both German and English (written and spoken).
