Job Description:

The field of activity includes technical support and advice for approval and monitoring authorities in the area of trade supervision (cities and districts, regional councils) and the Ministry of the Environment, as well as project work.

In the Competence Centre for Emission Control, we combine natural science and technical expertise with the application of legal regulations for emission control law and air pollution control. We evaluate a wide range of projects and plants such as small and medium-sized combustion plants, cement plants, foundries, asphalt mixing plants, combined heat and power plants, paper mills, smoking plants, processing and handling plants for dusty goods, and animal husbandry facilities with regard to the state of the art, location issues, and complaints from neighbours.

(Reference number 01/2026)

Your Tasks:

  • Assessment of air pollutants from commercial and industrial plants, as well as emission reduction techniques and discharge conditions for air pollutants
  • Processing of technical and legal issues related to plant-specific emission control
  • Technical support for questions regarding the dispersion and modeling of air pollutants, immission forecasts, and the application of specialized programs for dispersion calculations
  • Participation in projects in the aforementioned areas of responsibility, including those on pyrolysis plants, AI-supported evaluations, and the further development of specialized programs for dispersion calculations
  • Development of work and enforcement aids for technical and approval authorities, e.g., for TA-Luft and 1. BImSchV
  • Participation in specialized training courses

Your Profile:

  • Successfully completed studies (diploma/master's degree or equivalent) in engineering, including process engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, or comparable fields, as well as natural sciences such as chemistry, physics, meteorology, environmental sciences, or comparable fields. Corresponding master's degrees not obtained at a university must be accredited for access to the higher civil service at the time of completion; the applicant must provide proof of this. For foreign degrees, a certificate assessment from the Central Office for Foreign Education must be submitted.

Furthermore, we expect from you:

  • Good knowledge of physical and chemical relationships to be able to independently process issues of plant-specific emission control
  • Knowledge of commercial and industrial activities, processes, and technologies that can cause air pollution
  • Routine use of Office programs
  • Enjoyment of working in a dedicated team
  • Dedicated, independent, and results-oriented way of working
  • Good communication skills in speaking and writing
  • Experience in the field of emission control, particularly in plant-specific regulations for air pollution control, is an advantage
  • Ideally, you have experience with the modeling of the discharge and dispersion of air pollutants and odors

We Offer:

  • Remuneration according to pay group 13 TV-L
  • An interesting and varied range of tasks
  • Participation in a competent and dedicated team
  • Diverse further and advanced training opportunities
  • Flexible working time models and the possibility of working from home
  • Company pension scheme (VBL)
  • Subsidy for the JobTicket BW
