About StatusPal
StatusPal helps engineering and IT teams detect, fix, and communicate incidents --- monitoring, incident response, and status pages in one platform. When something breaks, we help teams catch it, resolve it, and keep their users informed automatically, instead of drowning in "is the service down?" tickets.
We're a small, profitable, founder-led team. Everything runs lean --- which means the operational and administrative side of the business needs someone who owns it properly, not someone who just keeps the lights on.
The role
We're hiring an Operations Generalist to take recurring operational work off the founder's plate and own it end-to-end.
This isn't a calendar-and-travel role. You'll own bookkeeping coordination, customer purchase-order handling, tier-1 customer support, inbox management, and ad-hoc operations projects. The common thread: you default to asking "how can I automate this?" rather than just doing the task by hand --- and you keep asking it after the first version works.
You'll work directly with the founder, but you're expected to run these processes independently --- auditing how something works today, documenting it, then automating or streamlining it, without needing to be walked through it each time.
What you'll own
- Monthly bookkeeping. Collect invoices and receipts, upload to Dext, approve the resulting bills in Xero, and reconcile against our Wise EUR account.
- Customer PO process. Handle the annual quoting, invoicing, and payment follow-up for customers who pay via purchase order.
- Tier-1 support and account health. Answer common customer requests directly, build Intercom workflows to automate the repetitive ones, and flag churn or renewal risk early. (Closing expansion or renewal deals sits with our GTM lead; you spot the signal, they run that conversation.)
- Inbox management. Monitor the founder's email, flag what matters, and filter out spam and noise.
- Process automation, end to end. The core of the role, not a side task. Spot repetitive manual work, document it, automate or streamline it, then leave behind clear documentation --- you decide what's worth fixing and you own the result.
- Ad-hoc operations. Handle one-off projects as they come up --- e.g. migrating our virtual office to a new platform.
- Content repurposing. Adapt blog posts for other channels (LinkedIn, X, Medium, Dev.to, WordPress), ideally with AI doing the heavy lifting.
What success looks like
We run a 90-day trial period. The ramp we expect:
- First 30 days: you know the product well enough to understand what customers are asking for and handle straightforward support correctly. You're running monthly bookkeeping and the PO process independently, and managing the founder's inbox day to day --- still flagging anything unclear before acting.
- First 60 days: you handle more complex support requests and make inbox judgment calls yourself. You've mapped the manual bottlenecks across support, finance, and content, with a plan for what to automate first.
- First 90 days: you're product-fluent enough to make good calls on account health --- flagging renewal or churn signals to the GTM lead early --- and you've shipped your first 2--3 automations. This is where we confirm the role is a mutual fit.
What we're looking for
- A self-starter who defaults to "how can I automate this?" --- you own processes end to end (audit, document, automate).
- Real experience running bookkeeping or invoicing coordination --- comfortable with tools like Xero and Dext, or their equivalents.
- Genuinely fluent with AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT) --- you use them daily to write, research, and automate.
- Experience with a support tool like Intercom, including building workflows, not just replying to tickets.
- Strong written English --- you'll write customer replies, invoices, and public content.
- A track record of working independently with minimal oversight, ideally at a small company or startup.
- Comfortable with financial and administrative processes, and confident proposing automation rather than waiting for instructions.
Bonus points
- Experience with no-code/automation tools (Zapier, Make, Google Apps Script, native Intercom workflows).
- Familiarity with WordPress, Medium, Dev.to, or LinkedIn publishing.
- Prior experience at a small, founder-led SaaS company.
This role is not for you if
- You're looking for a traditional EA role focused on scheduling and travel.
- You need a fully documented process before you can start --- part of the job is building the process.
- You'd rather execute tasks as given than notice what's repetitive and fix it.
- You want to own the customer relationship end to end, including closing deals --- that's owned by our GTM lead.
Compensation
- Base salary: €35,000--€55,000, depending on experience.
- Full-time, remote, Europe or EU-overlapping timezone.
