Ubica Robotics GmbH is a successful Bremen-based startup with around 70 employees. We develop, produce, and distribute autonomous scan robots for stationary retail and support them in digitizing their processes.

Senior Software Developer* Robot Perception (m/f/d)

As a Senior Software Developer* for Robot Perception, you will lead software projects independently, develop innovative algorithms, and work closely with interdisciplinary teams. You will contribute to the further development of our image processing technologies and support the integration of algorithmic solutions into our software product.

Responsibilities

Software Development Projects for Mobile Scan Robots

• Independent planning, implementation, and documentation of development projects, including coordination with Product Owners and other teams
• Guidance and technical support for junior developers and students

Software Development for Perception Systems of Mobile Scan Robots

• Evaluation, development, and testing of computer vision and machine learning algorithms (e.g., segmentation, object detection, pose estimation, classification, image registration, camera calibration)
• Active shaping of the software architecture of the perception stack and specification of integration with other software modules

Support for Hardware Development

• Participation in the definition of hardware requirements as well as sensor evaluations and quality checks for the optimization of perception features of current and future robot generations

Qualifications

• Completed degree in Computer Science or related fields
• In-depth understanding of image formation and computer vision fundamentals
• Several years of experience with computer vision solutions, ideally including 3D vision
• Proficient in OpenCV, PCL, Open3D, Halcon, as well as ML/DL methods for computer vision
• Very good knowledge of C++ and Python, experience with CMake/Setuptools, and ideally ROS; proficient in Linux and Bash
• Experience with Git, code reviews, and automated tests
• Good knowledge of multiprocessing, multithreading, shared memory, and process lifecycles
• Independent, team-oriented way of working with good English skills
