Position Overview
The University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE), located on the Essen campus within the Building Management Department, is seeking a
Project Manager (m/f/d) with Owner's Representative Function
(Salary group 12 TV-L)
The Building Project Management team represents the UDE's interests throughout the entire planning and construction process for new builds, renovations, and modernization projects of state-owned buildings provided by the NRW University and Property Management.
We also design, build, renovate, and modernize our own properties, which vary significantly in architectural and technical aspects. The UDE's building portfolio includes research buildings with highly specialized laboratories, teaching and event spaces, administrative buildings, libraries, and sports facilities. Buildings are distributed across the Essen and Duisburg campuses, as well as additional locations (external properties) within both cities.
Your Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to faculties in the realization of construction projects, collaborating with other departments, engineers, and external organizations.
- Take responsibility for the planning and implementation of particularly complex and significant university construction projects as Project Manager, fulfilling the owner's representative role across all service phases of HOAI.
- Prepare or review drafts related to highly technical specialized university properties (interdisciplinary natural science research buildings).
- Sign approval plans for the modification, construction, or demolition of buildings as the responsible plan preparer (authorized to submit building documents) for the university.
- Conduct and oversee tender procedures according to VOB, VOL/VgV, including the preparation and review of tender documents.
- Manage projects across all project stages and action areas as defined by AHO (Publication No. 9).
- Oversee the acceptance and billing of construction services and act as the owner's site manager.
- Review defect rectification after handover and ensure warranty obligations of executing companies.
- Manage the planning, construction supervision, billing, and acceptance of small renovation measures and construction projects related to professorial appointments.
Your Profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or a similar field with a focus on construction and/or planning expertise.
- Relevant professional experience in building construction planning.
- Proficient knowledge of relevant laws and regulations such as LBO NRW, BauGB, VOB, VOL/VgV, ASR, DGUV, TRGS, etc.
- Experience with IT and applications like MS Office and CAD; initial experience with BIM is advantageous.
- Strong initiative, organizational talent, teamwork skills, flexibility, negotiation skills, and excellent verbal communication abilities.
