Role Overview
As an Engineering Manager at vCluster Labs, you will be a technical leader and people manager, shaping the architecture of a leading Kubernetes multi-tenancy platform. You will act as a "Player-Coach" for a team of high-agency engineers, capable of diving into code to solve complex problems while fostering innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Architecture & Strategy: Serve as a technical authority, driving architectural decisions in Go and Kubernetes to ensure scalability and resilience. Engage in technical debates with senior engineers.
- Code Standards & Quality: Participate in design and code reviews, setting high standards for technical excellence and ensuring the delivery of clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
- Team Leadership & Growth: Mentor and manage Senior Software Engineers, prioritizing "Value over tasks" and acting as a "Supportive Elevator" to help engineers overcome technical roadblocks.
- Hiring Excellence: Partner with the People Team to build a world-class engineering organization, championing rigorous interviewing practices to identify top talent.
- Operational Rhythm: Establish a measurable and predictable operating rhythm, owning the delivery cadence and balancing technical debt reduction with speed.
Qualifications:
- Kubernetes Mastery: Deep expertise in Kubernetes internals (networking, storage, architectural patterns), including scheduler functionality.
- Production-Grade Engineering: Strong software engineering background, ideally with Go. Previous experience as a Senior/Staff Engineer with the ability to write and review code.
- Management Experience: 3 years of experience leading high-performing backend teams, with experience managing "Builder Mindset" engineers autonomously.
- Cognitive Flexibility: Openness to feedback and willingness to adapt technical assumptions based on new evidence.
Bonus Points:
- Open Source engagement or contributions (Upstream Kubernetes, SIGs, etc.).
- Experience building or managing AI/GPU workload platforms.
- Experience in an early-stage startup environment.

Compensation Range: €104K - €122K
