Senior Data Engineer

Hamburg

One of the largest international media and publishing groups in Europe with 10,000+ employees and €3bn+ annual revenue is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to help scale and evolve a central cloud-based analytics platform used across multiple countries and business units.

The company operates at true enterprise scale and is investing heavily in data, automation, and AI to support commercial decision making, operational efficiency, and long term growth.

The position:

• Work end to end on a central cloud-based analytics platform used across multiple countries and business units
• Design and build data pipelines, APIs, and reusable platform services using Python
• Integrate new data sources via custom services and APIs, not only standard connectors
• Translate loosely defined business problems into scalable data solutions with real commercial impact
• Contribute to architectural decisions and the long-term evolution of the data platform
• Collaborate closely with data science, analytics, and business stakeholders on initiatives covering pricing, forecasting, automation, and AI

Tech stack: Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, SQL, Python, Power BI.

Experience with Azure is beneficial, but candidates from AWS, GCP, or on premise environments are also considered.

Your experience:

• Strong background in data engineering with hands-on Python used in production environments
• Experience building APIs, services, or custom integrations for data platforms
• Solid understanding of modern data platform architectures and cloud environments
• Comfortable working autonomously in less structured environments with direct business interaction
• Able to challenge requirements, propose solutions, and take ownership of delivery
• Fluent in German and English

Details:

• Salary range up to €90,000
