About the Role

Our client is an international, fast-growing organisation with a strong presence in Germany. To strengthen their finance team, they are currently looking for an experienced General Ledger Accountant who goes beyond classic bookkeeping and takes real ownership of balances, numbers, and processes.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys responsibility, works independently, and has experience operating in an international environment with complex accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Full ownership of general ledger accounts, including preparation, reconciliation, and review
• Month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities
• Preparation and analysis of balance sheet and P&L positions
• Ensuring accurate and compliant accounting in line with IFRS or US GAAP (HGB knowledge is a plus)
• Acting as a key contact for auditors and internal stakeholders
• Identifying and driving improvements in accounting processes and controls
• Supporting cross-functional collaboration in an international finance environment

Your Profile

• 5 years of professional experience in General Ledger Accounting or similar roles
• Strong hands-on experience with IFRS or US GAAP (HGB knowledge is an advantage)
• Background in an international company or complex accounting environment
• Comfortable taking end-to-end ownership of balances and financial data
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA is a strong plus
• Fluent in English ; German at B2 level or higher is an advantage
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and not "just a bookkeeper" --- you understand and challenge the numbers
