To support our Network Operations Team, we are now looking for a committed person as Network Operations Engineer (w/m/d)

Our Offer

As a Network Operations Engineer, you keep DE-CIX's global network and Internet Exchange infrastructure running reliably and efficiently. You monitor and operate our backbone, optical transport, and routing infrastructure, coordinate maintenance and hardware replacements, troubleshoot incidents, and drive automation to streamline operations and improve platform reliability.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Overall responsibility for the effective operation and maintenance of the global network (interconnection platform), optical network, switching and routing hardware
  • Troubleshoot network and hardware issues, resolve incidents, perform routine maintenance and address network escalations
  • Monitor, analyze, and continuously improve network performance, automation and operational processes
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with vendors and service providers and act as the interface to other operations teams
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and provide occasional support outside regular business hours
  • Perform occasional on-site work in data centers, including hardware maintenance and replacements

This is important to us

  • 3 years of experience in the networking industry (telecommunications, service provider, or large-scale IT environments) or a degree in Computer Science, Network Communications, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of IP networking technologies and protocols (e.g. Ethernet, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, EVPN, MPLS, QoS, DWDM), with hands-on experience in configuring and troubleshooting network equipment (preferably Nokia)
  • Experience working in Linux environments, data centers, and with network automation using Python, Ansible, Git, and network monitoring tools
  • Analytical, solution-oriented team player with a proactive mindset and a passion for learning new technologies
  • Class B driving license and you are eligible to undergo a background check
  • Availability for once-per-quarter trips to the main office in Frankfurt am Main, Germany
