Senior Legal Counsel

About the Role

An internationally recognised leader in large-scale infrastructure and energy projects is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel (m/f/d) to join its European legal team.

This is a high-impact role supporting complex, multi-jurisdictional projects across Europe, from bid stage through execution, working directly alongside commercial, procurement and operational leaders on strategically significant contracts.

If you're a fully qualified German lawyer who enjoys working at the intersection of law, business, and international project delivery, this role offers genuine visibility and influence.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide end-to-end legal support on major infrastructure and energy projects across Europe
• Draft and negotiate high-value, complex commercial and project agreements
• Advise senior stakeholders on contractual risk, claims, and dispute strategy
• Act as a strategic business partner to commercial and project teams
• Coordinate cross-border legal input across European jurisdictions
• Support dispute management and oversee external counsel where required
• Contribute to strengthening legal risk frameworks and internal processes

You will be embedded within the business, shaping commercial outcomes.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified German lawyer (Second State Examination)
• 5--8 years' PQE (in-house or strong international law firm background)
• Experience in infrastructure, construction, engineering, energy or large project environments, desirable
• Strong commercial mindset and confidence advising senior stakeholders
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, international environment

Location and Benefits

The role is based in Mannheim with hybrid working available (typically 1--2 days in the office), offering a competitive salary package including bonus and strong secondary benefits.
