Staff AI Researcher -- Frontier LLMs & Agentic Workflows
The Opportunity
One of Europe's fastest-growing AI companies is looking for a Staff AI Researcher to help define the next generation of enterprise automation. Recently backed by over €20M in funding and already trusted by Fortune 500 organisations, this scale-up is building secure, hallucination-free AI agents that integrate seamlessly into critical business processes.
This role sits at the intersection of cutting-edge AI research and real-world enterprise impact. It offers the chance to take state-of-the-art methods from the lab into production, working alongside alumni of Aleph Alpha, Google DeepMind, and other world-class research groups.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead research into agentic workflows, multi-step reasoning, autonomous orchestration, and tool use for AI agents.
- Continuously analyse and apply the latest scientific papers (LLMs, reinforcement learning, AI safety) to shape product direction.
- Develop benchmarking and evaluation frameworks for reliability, factual grounding, and safety.
- Prototype advanced methods (e.g. retrieval-augmented generation, few/zero-shot learning, continual fine-tuning) and collaborate with engineering teams to bring them into production.
- Mentor researchers and engineers, establishing high standards for experimental design and reproducibility.
- Contribute to the AI community through conference participation and publications.
Skills & Experience Sought
- Strong record of impactful AI research - publications at top-tier venues (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL) or equivalent breakthroughs in industry.
- Deep expertise in large language models , agent-based architectures , and reinforcement learning.
- Experience translating research prototypes into production-grade AI systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow).
- Familiarity with retrieval systems , knowledge grounding, and methods for reducing hallucinations.
- Exceptional ability to distil complex ideas for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborative mindset and motivation to deliver scientific contributions with measurable business impact.
