Growth Lead ( New 4X Strategy Game)
Goodgame Studios
Building a new cross-platform 4X strategy game, Goodgame Studios believes the first-time user experience (FTUE) is key to long-term success. To achieve this, we're forming an FTUE-Strike Team—a cross-functional unit of Product, Marketing, Design, and Art—to own the complete user journey from the first ad impression to Day 3 in-game.
As the Growth Lead, you'll be the marketing engine and owner within this Strike Team. Your mission: ensure an engaging, seamless, and fun user journey. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you'll directly influence product design, marketability, and scale. Eventually, you'll build the marketing team for a global launch.
You will design and execute early marketing tests, lead UA strategy, and partner closely with Product and Design to deliver the "What You See Is What You Get" principle across all player touchpoints.
YOUR MISSION
Phase 1: Product & Market Fit (Development)
- Lead the FTUE Strategy from a Marketing perspective: Define and own the user-centric strategy from ad promise to Day 3 retention, focusing on acquisition, onboarding, and early engagement.
- Define and segment core and potential target audiences, understanding their player behavior and motivations through data analytics and user research.
- Design and execute A/B tests across narratives, creatives, and early gameplay. Develop playable ad concepts and in-game variations to identify top-performing concepts, ensuring a strict "What You See Is What You Get" principle. Work directly with Product and Game Design for seamless alignment between marketing and in-game experience.
- Conduct marketability tests to validate strategic design decisions (e.g., art style, landscape vs. portrait) and identify core target audiences.
- Define, monitor, and iterate on key funnel KPIs (IPM, conversion, D1/D3 retention, LTV, ROAS). Work hands-on with tracking analysts and data teams to validate test setups, avoid bias, and ensure trustworthy KPIs.
- Build scalable UA foundations and reporting frameworks for later growth phases. Partner with central Stillfront marketing units and vendors for best-in-class data, tech, and creative support.
Phase 2: Scale & Launch (Soft Launch)
- Go-To-Market: Develop and execute a comprehensive paid, earned, and owned channel marketing strategy, plus a CRM/community strategy.
- Softlaunch: Define and execute a soft launch strategy with the product core team, including communication, social media, launch announcements, trailers, store relations, and building excitement.
- Positioning: Develop product positioning and brand narratives.
- Build the Engine: Establish scalable UA foundations, reporting frameworks, ASO, and creative production pipelines.
- Lead for Global: Starting mid-2026, build and lead a dedicated marketing team to ramp up activities for the global launch. Plan and execute the global launch with this team.
YOUR BACKSTORY
- 5+ years of hands-on Marketing experience for free-to-play mobile games.
- Proven success in user-centric product marketing, creative testing, playable ad design, and early-market validation.
- Deep understanding of conversion funnels and the critical link between creative promise and early gameplay.
- Solid understanding of campaign setup and optimization in Facebook Ads, Google Ads, AppLovin, and other standard mobile marketing networks.
- Hands-on mentality: there is no UA team to start with (but central teams can provide support).
- Experience with tracking and attribution systems (e.g., MMPs, Adjust, AppsFlyer, Firebase).
- Strong analytical mindset with solid skills in Google Sheets/Excel, Tableau, or Looker.
- Familiar with A/B testing, cohort analysis, and campaign performance evaluation.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills—comfortable working side-by-side with Product and Design.
- Fluent in English; German is a plus but not required.
- Experience building and leading a marketing team is a plus.
