About JHC Consulting
JHC Consulting is a private advisory practice that provides counsel to chief executives, chairs, and board committees on consequential decisions. We specialize in written analysis designed to remain on file and be referred to long years after a meeting concludes. Rather than delivering presentations or facilitating consensus sessions, we produce memoranda that are authored and signed by a single individual. This approach rests on the belief that a well reasoned, seven page document is more valuable than a forty page slide deck. All our engagements are grounded in the discipline of absolute discretion and analytical honesty. We favor clarity over volume and evidence over assumption.
In this role
The Project Assistant supports our advisory team in producing the precise written analysis our clients rely on for high level decisions. This role is a foundational part of our small team and focuses on the rigorous preparation and verification of our written counsel.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed research into corporate history and governance structures to support new mandates.
- Verify every fact and citation within a draft memorandum to ensure absolute accuracy.
- Organize complex source materials and maintain a clear digital archive for the advisory team.
- Draft initial summaries of regulatory filings and relevant news reports.
- Coordinate timelines for simultaneous client engagements to ensure deadines are met.
- Proofread final documents for grammar, tone, and logical consistency.
A typical week
A typical week involves several hours of quiet research and careful writing. You might spend a morning cross referencing a board committee report against a news archive to ensure a specific timeline is correct. In the afternoon, you could be drafting a three paragraph summary of a new regulatory change. Communication happens mostly through short, written updates rather than long video calls. Each Friday, the team reviews the research log to prepare for the following week of drafting.
What we are looking for
- Exceptional writing skills with an appreciation for plain English.
- A temperament that favors precision and methodical work.
- The ability to read dense documents and extract the most relevant facts.
- Absolute discretion when handling sensitive or private information.
- Strong organizational habits without a need for constant supervision.
- A commitment to seeing a task through to a high standard of completion.
Helpful background
- Academic study in history, law, or philosophy where writing is a primary focus.
- Experience in roles that require formal research or careful documentation.
- Familiarity with business terminology or the basics of corporate governance.
Working at JHC Consulting
- A fully remote environment designed for deep, focused work without distractions.
- Direct mentorship from experienced practitioners in the private advisory field.
- A working culture that values the quality of thought over the speed of delivery.
- A predictable schedule that respects boundaries and personal time.
- Access to a professional environment that prioritizes the written record.
JHC Consulting remains focused on the stability and honesty of the written record. We produce work that provides a stable foundation for the future of the organizations we serve. This role is essential to maintaining our standard of analytical precision.
