Your Contribution

  • A three-year, individually designed doctoral (PhD) program in the Group's advanced engineering department
  • PhD program in the field of computational fluid dynamics and thermodynamics
  • The doctoral program begins at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR). The duration of the initial research stay is up to three months and serves as scientific onboarding as well as aligning the research objectives. The subsequent main part of the doctoral research will take place at the MAHLE site in Stuttgart
  • Competent support from the department, personnel development and the research center
  • Early discussion about possible career options within the MAHLE group
  • Modeling and simulation of complex multiphase flows in heat exchangers in the automotive environment
  • Development of simulation models to represent dynamic operating and flow conditions in OpenFOAM
  • Identification and analysis of fluid engineering properties such as pressure drop, flow distribution, heat transfer, and phase transition
  • Intensive research and development work focusing on the further development of physical models for real-world application conditions

Qualifications

  • Excellent university degree (Master or comparable) in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Physical Engineering Science, or comparable programs with a focus on thermodynamics or fluid mechanics
  • In-depth knowledge of flow simulation as well as an understanding of thermodynamic and fluid engineering processes in multiphase flows
  • Excellent English and fluent German skills
  • High level of independence, reliability and self-directed work
