About this job

For a technology-oriented, medium-sized industrial company with its own development department, we are looking for a Project Manager (m/f/d) for technical development projects. The company develops complex special machines and technical systems in the field of rail infrastructure and acts as an IP holder.

External development partners partially take over complete trades -- you retain overall project responsibility. You manage development projects from the concept phase to series production and are the central interface between technology, suppliers, purchasing, and internal departments.

You are the technical coordinator and have a good sense for coordination needs. You do not have disciplinary leadership but see yourself as the owner of the development projects. Your decisions are characterized by respectful collaboration, a clear stance, and high technical expertise.

Your Tasks

• Holistic management of technical development projects (concept → series)
• Planning and control of deadlines, costs, quality, and risks
• Confident leadership and coordination of external development partners, suppliers, purchasing, and internal stakeholders
• Clear definition of work packages and responsibilities
• Technical plausibility check of concepts and development stages
• Review, milestone, and maturity level management
• Management of changes (scope, deadlines, costs) including escalation
• Securing documentation, knowledge transfer, and IP

Your Profile

• Completed technical degree (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or comparable)
• Several years of experience in the technical leadership of development projects
• Experience in collaborating with external development partners and suppliers
• Very good technical system understanding (detailed design not required)
• Structured, transparent, and responsible working style
• Confident use of project management methods and tools
