Our Application Database Management ensures that our databases are the reliable backbone of our applications, powering our customer systems.

In your role as Expert Database Management (m/f/d), you will be responsible for Application Database Administration (ADBA), focusing on Oracle products but also other SQL and No-SQL databases. As a communicative contact person and team player, you will be the interface to all involved areas to ensure optimal database utilization and availability.

  • Ensure 24/7 availability and performance of all managed databases through system analysis, optimization, and efficient monitoring setup.
  • Manage the operation of our databases according to specifications.
  • Coordinate and drive the independent, goal-oriented processing and resolution of highly complex incidents by collaborating with and steering Incident Management, Service Management Center, development units, testing, internal and external suppliers, and service providers.
  • Optimize database quality and performance through continuous analysis of occurring errors (Incident/Problem Management) and regular review meetings with development partners, testing, and application operations.
  • Manage deployments and patches to ensure the security and compliance of our databases.
  • Be responsible for quality criteria and specifications, and verify quality during the implementation of new software deliveries for databases.
  • Create and maintain operational and system documentation, ensuring processes for their updates are in place.
  • Serve as the point of contact for database users and service management.
  • Ensure complete and process-compliant handling of database changes, incidents, and problems.

What You Bring:

  • Successfully completed university studies (university of applied sciences or equivalent) in (Business) Informatics, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or Engineering, or a technical apprenticeship, or many years of experience in IT Infrastructure and Data Center, IT Operations, IT Engineering, and/or IT Development.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in IT, preferably in the IT operation of complex system landscapes, software development, IT consulting, or IT architecture, specifically with databases.
  • Very good technical knowledge and certifications for databases in large, heterogeneous IT infrastructures: Oracle Databases, Oracle OGG, Oracle OCI, MySQL/Percona, Teradata, Cassandra, AWS Aurora, PostgreSQL, Informix, MS SQL.
  • Knowledge of database performance optimization & query tuning.
  • Solid SQL knowledge.
  • Knowledge and certifications for databases in cloud environments, e.g., AWS, OCI, Azure.
  • Several years of experience in supporting database systems.
  • Several years of project experience (e.g., migration projects, new software introductions, etc.).
  • Comprehensive process and IT/TK know-how, ideally in the telecommunications industry.
  • Very good knowledge in server and client hardware, operating systems (e.g., Linux/Unix/Windows), databases, and standard applications (ERP, CRM, Billing).
  • Strong analytical, solution-oriented, and entrepreneurial thinking and acting.
  • Good ITIL knowledge.
  • Solid knowledge in operating systems (e.g., Linux/Unix/Windows) and ideally IT architectures and databases (e.g., Oracle/Hadoop).
  • Knowledge in a programming language, e.g., Python, Java, and Unix scripts.
  • Ability to present complex issues to different audiences and negotiate effectively with customers, suppliers, and service providers (also internationally).
  • Fluent English (C1 according to GER).
  • Fluent German or willingness to learn it promptly.

This position can be full-time or near full-time part-time (min. 30 hours).
