- Fleet Personnel Manager (m/f/d)
As Fleet Personnel Manager (m/f/d) at BSM, you will play a senior leadership role in managing and optimizing vessel human resources across the fleet. You will lead and manage the Crew Personnel Department with about 28 employees, covering key functional areas such as crewing operations, recruitment, training, and personnel administration. As a member of the BSMD Management Team, you will actively contribute to strategic decision-making and organisational development, ensuring that crewing operations are aligned with business objectives, client expectations and regulatory requirements. By fostering strong connections between ship and shore, promoting a robust safety culture, and maintaining close collaboration with clients and internal stakeholders, you will contribute to the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of the fleet.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop a department of approximately 28 employees, fostering a high-performance and accountable team culture based on mutual trust and respect.

Provide leadership guidance to the department's core functions, including crewing operations, recruitment, training, and personnel administration.

Ensure safe, compliant, and reliable crewing operations in line with client expectations, company standards and regulatory requirements including:
- Recruitment & talent acquisition in coordination with Crew Service Centres (CSC)
- Training & development
- Crew relief planning meeting vessels manning requirements
- Crew administration
- Crew-related OPEX (manning costs, travel, training)
- Shore-based personnel costs within the department
- Third-party / outsourced crewing costs
- Compliance with the company's SMS promoting a strong safety culture

Drive workforce planning, succession development, and organisational effectiveness within the department.

Contribute as a member of the BSMD Management Team to strategic decision-making and interdepartmental alignment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or certification in Maritime Studies or a related field.
- At least 3 years of seagoing experience in a senior rank (Master, Chief Engineer, Chief Officer) or 6 years in a marine office with crew supervision responsibilities.
- Experience with team leading and responsibility for officed personnel.
- Experience in recruitment, training, and personnel development.
- Knowledge of maritime labour law (incl. MLC) and general maritime legal frameworks.
- Familiarity with crewing markets and marine labour supply dynamics.
- Experience with collective agreements and employment contracts is a plus.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of crew requirements and seafarer profiles.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Well-organized with a structured and solution-oriented approach.
- High level of compliance awareness and accountability.
- Fluent in English.
- Good MS Office and general IT skills.
